Library Loot: The May Day Edition

Library Loot is a weekly meme co-hosted by Marg and Claire to share the books you’ve gotten from the library.

Here’s what I picked up at the library this week:

Kathy Smith’s lift weights to lose weight by…Kathy Smith

The latehomecomer : a Hmong family memoir by Kao Kalia Yang

The making of a duchess
by Shana Galen

A natural history of the romance novel
by Pamela Regis

The new Sonoma diet : a simple, healthy, more delicious way to live : trimmer waist, more energy in just 10 days
by Connie Gutterson

Three cups of tea–one man’s journey to change the world — one child at a time by Sarah L. Thomson (this is the young reader’s edition)

The time-traveling fashionista by Bianca Turetsky

The water wars by Cameron Stracher

I also checked out the following ebooks:

Sex, Lies, and Online Dating
by Rachel Gibson

Quicksilver by Amanda Quick

What about you? What did you pick up from the library this week, and which of these books are you most looking forward to reading? For me that would be The Time-Traveling Fashionista. This looks like it will be just plain fun and very different from the majority of YA paranormals!

Late November Library Loot

Library Loot is a weekly meme co-hosted by Marg and Claire to share the books you’ve gotten from the library.

Here’s what I picked up at the library this week. It’s a good mix of new books, fiction, nonfiction, and kids’ books for my preschooler as you can see below:

You only love once by Caroline Linden
Nigella Christmas by Nigella Lawson
Living your yoga : finding the spiritual in everyday life by Judith Lasater
The LEGO book by Daniel Lipkowitz
Dr. Zhivago by Boris Pasternak–this is a new translation by Larisa Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky. I’m ashamed that I’ve never read this though of course I’ve seen the 60s movie.
The creative life : true tales of inspiration by Julia Cameron–I loved The Artist’s Way which I’ve attempted to follow several times. I admit that I always get stuck on the week of reading deprivation though.
The Christmas Eve ghost by Shirley Hughes
The body in the bouillon by Katherine Hall Page

I also checked out a couple of ebooks from my local library:
Washington by Rob Chernow
If I stay by Gail Forman

As of yesterday, I have an ereader that will read epub files!. I received in the mail the “Eat Pray Love” special edition of the Sony PRS-300 which I’ll review in a separate post. I’m a dedicated Kindle 3 user but really wanted to be able to read secure epub files on the go–and now I can!

Here’s what I picked up at the library this week:

The wild Irish sea : a windswept tale of love and magic

The smuggler and the society bride by Julia Justiss

Scandal: his majesty’s love-child

Ransom my heart by Meg Cabot

The pirate by Katherine Garbera

Paris patisseries : history, shops, recipes
(this is nonfiction but I think it’s worth a mention)

On Folly Beach
by Karen White

The longest night
by Cindy Dees

Libertine’s kiss
by Judith James

Lady Isabella’s scandalous marriage by Jennifer Ashley

The blind contessa’s new machine by Carey Wallace

I haven’t been reading many of the books I check out from the library Why? I think it’s partly because I’ve gotten so used to reading books on the Kindle 2, which I’ve had for about 6 months now. Though I like the cuddle factor of a print book, it’s so much easier for me to read on the Kindle.

Another excuse is that I started the Outlander series about a month ago and have already finished the first four books. I’ve got to pace myself because I’ve heard that book 8 in the series might not be published until 2013!

I wanted to add cover images to the book list but haven’t found the right tool yet.  I tried the Google Book Bar wizard but found it confusing to use for a blogging newbie.
